Art Installation 3:
Our Proposal
The proposal centres on the cloud interpretation installation and how this essentially can be an education experience about clouds but also something more than just a display board.
The Tottenham Clouds group set themselves a brief that this piece should not only inform, but also create a new focus point in the park that will inspire people to watch the sky and enjoy this most egalitarian of displays. The piece should be accessible to all and relate to both children and adults at the same time. The piece needs to be robust due to its setting but also can be delicate and atmospheric in relating to its reference material.
Initial ideas of the cloud interpretation piece revolved around the use of reflection. A reflective surface has the evocative quality of capturing the clouds in an object or objects almost making them legible at a human scale. This has been done before in the form of various artists’ work, such as the Anish Kapoor sky mirrors installed at Kensington Gardens.
