Welcome - view the Luke Howard exhibition and look at the cloud photographs on the 2023 Memory Cloud Atlas Exhibition: The Man who named clouds: Luke Howard The original Man who named clouds: Luke Howard exhibition was created in 2010 to celebrate Luke Howard FRS as a local hero, during the 350th anniversary celebrations of The Royal Society. View the exhibition, which is held at Bruce Castle, as a pdf here The workshops and talks were: Clouds, glorious clouds Margaret Burr An introduction to clouds, understanding how they are formed and how they are named. Cloud Drawing Workshop: Skies and Skylines Mary Yacoob Following a brief introduction to some examples of clouds in contemporary art, you will be invited to sit outside and draw the expanse of sky above Lordship Rec, as well as its distinctive skylines, which include Broadwater Farm, Alexandra Palace, trees, and houses. Weather Station and Climate Change - what do we know and what can we do? Pamela Harling and Dave Morris Following in the footsteps of Luke Howard, who meticulously recorded the weather during his lifetime, Lordship Hub has installed its own weather station. The recordings of rain, wind speed and temperature are displayed on a public screen and will be linked to a website showing results from other weather stations. In this way we can build a picture of the weather around London. By comparing records across the year and between years we can start to see if our climate is changing. The evidence shows that human activity is warming our planet, so how are our everyday actions making that change? What can we do as communities to slow warming down? |
