The Luke Howard Award

The work of Luke Howard has a special place in the history of the field of urban climate studies because he is the first to recognize the UHI and because his analysis has proved so prescient. The Luke Howard Award is given annually to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to the field of urban climatology in a combination of research, teaching, and/or service to the international community of urban climatologists.
