Art Installation 4:
Views and Materiality

This design comprises a series of objects that form a homogenous entity. Three plinths, each with a discrete function and identity, are positioned next to the existing circular paved area where the park entrance from Higham Road opens out to the park. all tyhre pieces are mad of th same materials - a dark tinted concrete base, brushed stainless steel pressed metal display signage and a polished mirrored top section to reflect the clouds.

The display sign element would be tactile and therefore legible by the visually impaired whilst the solid materiality will make it feel substantial and robust. The polished top section will not only reflect the sky and surrounding landscape but will also ensure the piece is seen from a distance whilst blending in with its environment. Depending on the conditions at any given time, the piece will appear to be constantly be ever-changing.

In using stainless steel and concrete, the materials will be hardy to the elements but also not need regular maintenance. Also the stainless steel is a forgiving material so will be robust against any damage. The polished stainless still will be positioned high out of reach to help protect the reflective finish.
